We enjoy taking the sail boat out especially out on warm days and like to be active whether it be snow skiing, working out, or just relaxing and enjoying a beautiful beach sunset!
My first introduction to Natureʼs Sunshine was while I was on a trip in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where I met a lady who inspired me because she was following this natural way of living and using Natureʼs Sunshine supplements. She recommended someone who could help me, and there began my journey. I learned about lifestyle changes and supplement products that would be best for my individual body. I also began to think differently about my body and learned about Biological Terrain which is about dealing with root causes. If we think of our health in the ʻdisease treeʼ model with the roots based on trauma, genetics, toxins and nutritional deficiency, the trunk of the tree is our ʻBiological Terrainʼ (blood, urine, lymph, and saliva), which determines expression of symptoms, the leaves of the tree. I understood that I needed to address the cause and not the symptom of my health issues.
My health challenges started with an allergy attack in college, I didnʼt understand what this was, I never had allergies before in my entire life, why now out of nowhere? I ended up at the Doctors office where they had to give me a shot in order for the allergy attack to stop. That was the beginning of weekly allergy shots not to mention every drug you can imagine like Alegra, ClaritinD, ZyrtecD, Nasonex yet nothing would help me to avoid the occasional allergy attacks that were truly traumatic on my body such as sneezing 300 times in a day. I also had candida which caused a number of other health problems for me and constantly craved sugar, bread and pastas. I started taking probiotics and also did para-cleanses and took other supplements along with changing my diet. My candida was gone once I committed to making the lifestyle changes and taking the right supplements.
The next struggle was with my weight as I noticed that I began to gain weight and was always tired, especially in the mornings! I needed coffee to wake up and wine at the end of the day to relax me. I had problems sleeping and could never fall asleep or stay asleep for that matter. It was a circle that I lived in for a long time! My adrenals were completely exhausted and my white blood cell count was extremely low which would explain why I was sick all the time. I was constantly either getting a flu, cough or bug because my immune system was so weak and my white blood cells that are needed to fight off bad bacteria in my body were depleted.
The next round of health issues was only discovered after my quest to have a baby. After trying to conceive for 1 1/2 years I was diagnosed with having high prolactin which is produced by the pituitary and often results in a pituitary tumor; thankfully I didnʼt have a tumor but my doctor prescribed bromocriptine to bring down the prolactin levels because high prolactin meant I couldnʼt conceive. On top of all this I had estrogen dominance which also meant I couldnʼt get pregnant because I had too short of a luteal phase. To bring my estrogen down I did a liver cleanse and also used progesterone cream. I switched to a diet of all organic produce, hormone free meat and eggs as well as threw out all my skin and hair-care products unless they were 100% natural. I couldnʼt believe that by age 35 I had all of these health challenges but I knew I had to make serious life changes to get myself better! It seemed almost unreal to me that I could have this many problems with my body.
My husband Toby had such high cholesterol at 305 that the doctors told him he needed to take lipitor medication to lower it. I immediately began researching the side effects of Lipitor and other statins on the market and was shocked at everything I read. I started researching natural alternatives to bring cholesterol down along with lifestyle changes and began to understand more about cholesterol. After 3 months of using Natureʼs Sunshine products along with lifestyle changes my husbands cholesterol dropped from 305 to 275.
I no longer take bromocriptine or any allergy medications and I now rely on Natureʼs Sunshine products to help get my body back to itʼs natural state. Our diet is organic and pesticide free; we eliminated caffeine, sugar, white breads, processed foods and we take vitamins and minerals to nourish our bodies as well as exercise. Now when we get sick which is so rare, instead of reaching for NyQuill or Antacids we rely on natural herbs, vitamins and minerals. Our bodies became self-healing when they were provided with the right tools, environments and natural supplements. I have lost 20 pounds and feel younger and better today than I ever have thanks to Natureʼs Sunshine products!
